Tools and resources that I find useful. Things like financial calculators, programs that make work faster, and other eccentric items. Let me know if there are things here you like or things you would add!
AutoHotKey – This free scripting tool makes my day much easier. I use it to create key commands open certain folders at startup of my computer and start programs. It can be used more extensively than I use it, but it is a time-saver nontheless!
PortableApps – This is a great set of open-source and free tools that can run directly from a USB drive. You can put them on your computer anywhere (I put them in my dropbox and can then use them on all my computers anywhere). There are office tools like Open Office that can be used instead of Microsoft and even photo editing software like Gimp and Blender.
LibreOffice – A great open-source office suite. I find this very comparable to Microsoft Office and it even opens most if not all of the Microsoft filetypes.
W3Schools – W3Schools is a great website for anyone wanting to learn some web coding for free. They have continued to get better and better over time.
Hostgator Hosting* – I have used Hostgator for many years for several different sites and they have been very responsive to me when I have needed help migrating sites or even when I was hacked on a site. They helped me fix the issue. I can’t recommend them enough.
Roboform – Password keeper*. I have used this program for many years now and it is a LIFE SAVER in my day-to-day work on the computer. I have so many passwords to remember, and this system makes it very easy!
Financial Independence Tools
Networthify.com – A visual calculator identifying ‘when you can retire’ based on your assumptions and inputs. Pretty nice visuals!
Firecalc – Another visual calculator identifying how long your money will last based on a monte carlo simulation considering the past history of the stock market.
MarketWatch Retirement Calculator – Yet another decent retirement calculator allowing several inputs and identifying if your ‘retirement’ plan is on track.
